Melanie Kirkpatrick is a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute in Washington, D.C. and a former deputy editor of the Wall Street Journal’s editorial page. Her latest book is Lady Editor: Sarah Josepha Hale and the Making of the Modern American Woman. She is also the author of Thanksgiving: The Holiday at the Heart of the American Experience and Escape from North Korea: The Untold Story of Asia’s Underground Railroad.
Melanie is a director of the America for Bulgaria Foundation, a member of the advisory council of the George W. Bush Institute, a trustee emerita of Princeton in Asia, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Trollope Society.
She grew up in Buffalo and has lived in Tokyo, Toronto, Hong Kong and Manhattan.
